And from my experience, and others... a Shimano is much easier to set and cast than any Daiwa (and by all means, each time we've put them head to head... Shimano outcast Daiwa every time), even though it has "external" braking adjustments...

Casting would really make the tests conclusive, not the free spool time, or the weights that make the spools move... that's for desk junkies, not for people who actually fish the reels. Making actual casting tests in head to head comparisons would be highly appreciated, and CONCLUSIVE.
Goes both ways depending on the end user, tech, conditions, etc.

As noted above...Abu has had some fantastic finesse BCs for some time. Also, bearings from Shimano, Daiwa and others can be overpacked from the factory, again as noted.
By that do you mean the Revo LT and LTX?
How do you find them? I rather like the LT for its versatility.
It also has a BB on both sides of the levelwind, optional super shallow spool and SW capability.
Braid friendly too.

Actually, I mean with the original Ambassadeurs, especially the International Series with performance upgrades (if you can afford to soup them up as Abus get pricey quick!)...I haven't any experience with the LT and LTX.

What I mean is that Abu was already fiddling around with upgraded finesse capable reels long before this latest round by Daiwa and Shimano. Heck, even Don Iovino has offered his own version of tuned Abus for some time.

I liked the LT more than the LTX. Got LTZ AE-74 on the way here. Will do a proper review like I did with the Exsence.

Anyone notice that the Shamino BFS VS Daiwa T3 Air review cannot be opened? :?:

It can. It's just that the links on the home page and enthusiast reviews index point to the wrong page (the enthusiast reviews index). I'm sure that will be addressed eventually.

If you use the link at the top of this thread, or just do a quick search with a search engine of your choice, it'll come up.

Hmm... did my account just get hacked? I had posted a article on BFSing right here and questions about BPS XPS FC line.
and poof, lo and behold, gone!
stranger still I can't read or write pms...
Is this happening to anyone else? I really hope TT doesn't get attacked again.

Almost all casting reels had the cast control on the back plate (palming side) until the original Shimano Lew's Speed Spool came along. Many reels had permanently mounted front bearings and an adjustable bearing on the rear. Others, like those shown below, had the front bearing removable only to oil the spool shaft. Note the bearings were jeweled (agate). NOTHIN'S Image

Indeed ROG...nothin's new.

However, machining/manufacturing capabilities along with "modern" materials do help performance quite a bit.
