Cranking at a Higher Level, the New G.Loomis GLX
Introduction: Whatever your target application chances are G.Loomis has a rod offering, or two, from their vast lineup for you. Over the last few years the company has continued to refine and reinvent a number of their rod lines, and it was just a matter of time until the GLX Series was also due to receive an update. Two decades after the original GLX rods were introduced G.Loomis took to the task of reinventing one of the most popular series of rods the bass world has ever seen.

Re: Cranking at a Higher Level, the New G.Loomis GLX
Question on the handle length - is the 13.5" measurement from the butt to the reel seat, or does it include the reel seat? It seems long for a 6'6" rod...and the review noted the handle was short.
Excellent review!

Question: do you consider the reel seat part of the handle or a separate component of the rod?Tokugawa wrote:Question on the handle length - is the 13.5" measurement from the butt to the reel seat, or does it include the reel seat? Re: Cranking at a Higher Level, the New G.Loomis GLX
That's a been a topic of discussion on the boards. When specifying a build with a custom builder, my experience has been specifying a length from the butt to the rear of the seat. The seat length varies with part number, manufacturer and even more when it gets trimmed down to fit a specific reel foot. I think only including the butt to rear of the seat gives a better idea of how the handle fits the forearm and gives a better idea of the fulcrum available aft of the reel. It was done that way in past reviews:Cal wrote:Question: do you consider the reel seat part of the handle or a separate component of the rod?Tokugawa wrote:Question on the handle length - is the 13.5" measurement from the butt to the reel seat, or does it include the reel seat? I've noticed the reel seat being included in lengths from retailers like TW...and I'm not sure it helps much.
Is a foregrip included in the handle length, or is that a separate component of the rod?
Just my 2 cents on a small topic.

Well see, then you already knew the answerTokugawa wrote:When specifying a build with a custom builder, my experience has been specifying a length from the butt to the rear of the seat. ... It was done that way in past reviews
Would it be called a foregrip if it was part of the rear handle?Tokugawa wrote:Is a foregrip included in the handle length, or is that a separate component of the rod?
We do not measure the handle assembly
