Lowrance HDS 5 Gen 1 vs Gen 2

In the market for a new fish finder/GPS

Just wondering what the opinions are about generation 1 vs generation 2. Is the overlaying of map data and faster speed worth the extra money for a gen 2 model or does the gen 1 get the job done for most applications?

I fish a few local tourneys but not fishing new water that often'

the gen 2 is significantly faster...but if you plan on setting the fishfinder on a screen and leaving it, you wont benefit from the speed. if you plan on changing screens constantly or using structuremap, get the gen 2. i have an hds 8 and 10 both gen 1 but i dont really scroll through screens often, i pretty much leave them on 1 screen all day.

do you plan on getting side imaging?
