Best/Favorite fishfinder under $1200.00?
Hi all, A buddy of mine asked me my opinion on what fish finder unit to choose that costs $1200.00 or less.Im on the fence over a couple of choices but would be very interested what others might recommend. Please leave brand and model info as well as reasons why you chose that particular unit...experiences ect. Thanks in advance...

I got my 898 for $1236. That's pretty darn close to his budget.

where did you get it for that price?

Wait for a TackleWarehouse discount and get the Humminbird 898c Side Imager. Although you can find it on Ebay for around your price now and then.
I love mine, even when I'm not looking for structure I stare at it just checking out whats under the water.
The only reason you need for buying it are these pictures.

UniversalMania has the 898 SI for 1224$. That is what I would get in that price range. BBG Marine can match that price if you call them but they do not advertise that price on the web I do not believe.

Thats a good question because I was wondering the same thing. I am looking to buy a humminbird 898c si or wondering if I should go with the new lowrance hds 7 gen 2 depth finder. They are the same price but the humminbird has a 7 inch screen and the lowrance is a little smaller at 6.4 inches. The one thing I haven't figure out about the lowrance gen 2 is they have bundles on cabelas for $1500 but I thought with the lowrance you also had to buy the structure scan module to get down and side imaging and thats an extra $500-$600 if that's the case.

I'd go the lowrance hds7 and then get the scructure scan later down the track

Two Elite 7's, one regular for navigation and one DSI for down imaging and fish finding.
Adding a Lowrance Insight Chip to one would be awesome, I am really impressed by Lowrance's lake chip. All the United States plus border waters is awesome for only one chip.
