Ceramic Lightning shields removable?

Are the shields on Bocas Ceramic Lightning bearing removable?

should be with a small hook..There should be a VERY thin ring that holds the shield on that you can pop off..
Havent had them in the office in a long time to confirm for sure.. 8-)
