Thinking of buyin a reconditioned 02 9.9 Mercury from Iboats
They are having a sale. $1000+shipping for a 9.9 Mercuray 2stroke manual tiller with 60day warranty. Shipping is $150 and you can buy additional warranty. They sell reconditioned motors they buy in bulk from fishing lodges in CA. That price is good as far as I can tell. Any input on this type of sale. It will be used in freshwater at lake Evergreen here in IL (15 min from my house) on a 16' flat bottom Jon. 10HP limit on that lake.

My suggestion,
Make the environmentally conscious decision and save for a 4 stroke. Lake Evergreen and the fish that live there will thank you. Plus, when they ban two stroke outboards in your state, you won't have to try and sell your non-compliant motor.

st read about this today. When I buy new it will definately be a 4-stroke or a new trolling motor.
Ouch - I think my 18HP is 2-stroke as well. Hmm. Probably buy a new boat before replacing it witt="_new 4-stroke 18HP.
