how much weight for my jon boat?

I just acquired a small 10 foot aluminum jon boat and the plague with maximum weight and so on is unreadable, I was wondering how much weight this boat can handle and what would be a good size trolling motor to skip it across average sized lakes where no outboard motors are allowed, and moderate wind?
thanks in advance for your wisdom

If you know the make, you can look it up on this site, if not, look at the various one's, and get a guesstimate.

For a 10 footer, I've seen them with a foot control as well as a tiller in the back, total thrust over 110, so it's pretty much in how quickly you want to move. If it were mine, and I just wanted to fish, not win a race, I'd get a 40-something for a good trade off between battery life and speed.

I would go w/ the biggest 12v TM you can find. Probably 55lb thrust. You don't need to use it full blast all the time but when the wind picks up and you need to get back against it then you'll appreciate it.

In a jon that small I wouldn't want a 24v as batts. are heavy
