Skeeter SX170 Bass Boat

Post by TommyT » Fri Jul 20, 2007 5:44 am

I'm looking to get a Skeeter SX170 with either a Yahama 90 or 115. My garage on my house is 19'0 in length and the Skeeter 170 is the only bass boat I found that will fit, which is a must for me. Anyone know of any other bass boats that will fit to that length? I wanted a Stratos 275 with a 115, but I don't think it will fit in my garage. Any thoughts on the Skeeter Bass Boats? Anyone know what kind of speed I will get with the 90 or the 115? I'm looking to start fishing tournaments next year and was wondering how the Skeeter 170 would do? Any info will greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Thomas

Rememeber, That the trailer is longer than the boat....Dont make that mistake. LOL! Make sure the triler fits in the garage. Get a total package length and see about a removable tongue on the trailer.

My fishing buddy has an SX170. Top GPS speed is 79km/h, so just on 50mph.

Outboard is a Suzuki 115hp, everything is standard - no SS prop or jack plate (jack plate is a no no on this boat anyhow).

Speed seems about right with the 115...I would get the 115 over the 90 if you can..What is the Max HP on that boat? You dont want to under power the boat as it will take more of a beating with all your gear and 2 guys fishing out of it. Also measure the trailer length, but it might be over 19' if the boat is around 17'. I love my older skeeter, but I cant wait to get a bigger one with a big motor.

I think I can get the SX180 in my garage with the swing away tongue. The new 08' models can come with a 150HP which would be great.
Thanks for the help.

The swing away trailer tounge is the ONLY reason I can get my 190SX in the garage. It just fits. I guess I could take some things out of the garage and put it in, like, sideways a bit or something, but it would be tricky.

If you really want to be sure, measure the length of everything, prop and all, at the dealership.

My brother in law and I were laughing one evening at the fact that the 150 Yammy outboard clears the garage door by 2" or less. That's one thing I did not consider when I was thinking storage. I might have just gotten lucky there, I think.

My garage has 19'6" of clearance and my SX180 w/ a 115 yammy and swing away trailer tongue BARELY fits.

I own a 2006 Ranger 178VS with a 150 Optimax and folding tongue on trailer. This was the only boat I found in this length rated for a 150. My garage is 20 ft deep with a recess area that gives me another several feet fir the motor only. This boat total takes about 21.5 feet to clear. You may think about angling your boatif you have a 2 car garage but the wife may not like moving the car out. Boat does 60mph with 2 people.

Yes the wife has claimed her side, so sideways is out for me. My floorplan says 22' but after construction with doors and walls, it measures about 19'6. According to the Skeeter web site, an SX180 with swing away tongue is 19'3 which would barely work in my garage. I'm trying to avoid puting the boat outside. It's so nice having everything locked up inside the garage and being able to keep everything inside the boat.

Thanks for the help
