golden shiner spinnerbait

I want to make some golden shiner spinnerbaits for myself and a couple of buddies. No production.
I've never seen a golden shiner in person, but I'm told they are everywhere here in the CA Delta.
I'd really appreciate any guidance you could provide as to head and skirt colors.
