Winding Check / Carbon Tube help

Post by trav »

I’m about to start a BFS build. I’m looking to do something similar to this, with a carbon tube between the 2 pieces of a Fuji SKS seat. Can anyone help me with sourcing these? All the normal sites don’t seem to have the winding checks that are the same diameter (OD) of a carbon tube that’s available.

I use Matagi. While I don't use the SK seats often, I've not had an issue finding what I need there. http://www.matagi.co.jp/english/index.html

After a few months of searching every available source, I was able to put together something close. I actually like how it came out, a little better than the example rod I posted for reference. I used aluminum winding checks designed for a SKS seat, used my Alps wrapper as a makeshift lathe, carved out a groove for the carbon tube to mate to, and got this. Minus the reel seat, all parts came from AliExpress.

Sick build 👍
Not sure if you have looked, but Voodoo rods might be a good place to look for future builds. He's pretty good with sourcing as well.
