PLS Help with a Missing Guide

Post by shlew » Wed Sep 25, 2019 6:40 am

Hi rod builders,

Was wondering if you could help me out. Have an old Fenwick Techna AV AVC66F rod that's missing the 3rd guide from the reel seat (8th from the tip). Had 10 guides in all. Was hoping to buy a replacement but I can't for the life of me figure out all the Fuji codes, names, types, etc. All i know is this is probably an SIC insert SS guide. It had a double support that merged into a single foot just like the guide next to it (7th from the tip). That measures 5mm ID and 8 mm OD and a height in the rod of 8mm.

This particular guide is probably too old, but could someone recommend a suitable replacement? 5.5? 6? Which model?

Thank you so much for your help.

Looks like a Gunsmoke SiC MN or LN frame. Maybe a 7. MNSG7 or LNSG7. Order a 6, 7 and an 8 to be safe. If it is a shiny silver finish it will be an MNAG or LNAG.

Wow quick response! Thanks so much sir!

Was debating whether to replace the guide or rebuild the rod. (really like the blank)

But I think I need more experience before I try the latter.

Thank you again Angler JO.

UPDATE

Found some LNSG kits. And appears to be a UNSG 7 or 8 according to the kit. Having a hard time finding any online.

Would a KTSG be compatible?

Mudhole has LNSG guides. If the frame is polished consider CLNAG.

Yes, thanks!

That's where I actually saw the kit components and identified UNSG. Hard to source online anymore it seems.

I may have been unclear. The guide in particular is a single foot. But with supports on either end. It's not a double foot guide.

Like the one in the first photo.

Not sure on the particular model number, but I'm positive that it is what's called a bridge guide. Pretty certain it's a Fuji guide, whatever flavor it might be.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

KTSG would be pretty close and easily available. Maybe better with KBSG based on where it is on the rod. Haven't seen the bridge guides in a while.
