Shakyhead blank

I’m looking for recommendations for a shakyhead blank and hopefully one made by Point Blank. I want one that is fast-xfast and basically what I’d consider a true medium for spinning. A good light tip but good power for a solid hookset on a long cast. I tend to prefer a slightly more powerful rod in general for most things than a lot of people it seems anyway.

I should add I prefer to stay in the traditional 6’10-7’ range.

I have the 701mf, and it's perfect - fits your description to a capital T. It will load up with 1/8 oz and a decent chunk of plastic, but has really good power throughout. Very nice blank

Good enough for the girls I go with. I’ll give it a shot first chance I get. What’s your guide layout for this blank?

My rod is built as a casting stick. I'm assuming you want a spinning build?

Yessir. I’m looking for opinions on a spinning shakyhead blank. I should have made that clear in the first post.

I have a casting otterods built shakyhead rod on the 6'9" point blank mlxf and it is awesome. It's more like a medium than medium lite. I'd give it some consideration. i don't think you'd be disappointed

This rod is tailor made for KR Concept.

With a 2500 or 3000 Series spinning reel casting 15lb braid your layout will start with a KL20H at around 19-inches from the tip of the spool axle in a mid position. Place a 5 or 5.5KB choke guide at the same distance beyond the stripper (19-inches spool axle to stripper - 19 inches stripper to choke). Bullseye a KL10H and a KL5.5M between the stripper and choke and your layout will be very close to "perfect". These are "hacks" or shortcuts I've developed over time after creating GPS for KR.

"Rules"
1) A KR stripper will usually fall between 18 and 22 inches from the tip of the spool axle, experiment in this range.
2) Wherever the stripper falls from the tip of the spool axle, place the choke the same distance from the stripper
3) Reduction train groups (for 99% of spinning builds for freshwater techniques) will end in a 5.5M and have 5 or 5.5 KT runners
4) The proper second guide will be half the size of the stripper - 25KL with a 12KL • 20KL with 10KL • 16KL with 8KL, think in "groups"
5) Stay away from the KL16H stripper unless you are BELOW 10lb braid or 6-8lb mono. The 20 will give you more options for reels and line.

That is very interesting and appreciated. I like patterns like that. I have built several casting rods but no spinning yet for whatever reason. That’s going to change soon hopefully. The sooner the better with cool weather approaching.
