It has 398g power.
If I could get a do-over, I would have picked up a K2 blank on the lighter side and built a BFS rod instead of the SCV I built on. It's a really nice blank but, my K2 I have now is insanely sensitive and the blank is pretty balanced.
712-C intrests me. It's also moderate fast <3. And light as feather.

Okay, now I've tested it.. Probably best rod I've ever fished! As sensitive as NFC MB 705 HM, but much more power. That's what I wanted. 8-) Much more sensitive than St. Croix 5C70MF. Haven't landed any fish. Got one nice bite, but missed it. Tested small spinner, 9g and jigs 5-20g. Rod emits every scratch greatly. Also one notice. That tube handle resonates nicely. With spinner it felt like a 'speaker' in my hand.

MardukFIN, I'm sorry but you have me a little confused. The blank/rod you mention in your last post, are you speaking of the new NFC X-ray or the new MHX blank?

I'm speaking NFC MB 736-1 (X-ray LMX) and yes, it's best rod i've ever fished. Easily. Power and sensitivity is magnificient.

Thank you, Marduk. It also gets me excited. When I finish the NFC HM I am working on I may have to try an X-ray.

I built it this way. Carbon tube handle is very nice. It resonates and emits bites very nicely.

Lovely build. How did you make that handle?

I think that's the North Fork carbon handle, same as what's on the Black Widow rod series. They are carbon tubes and are mounted on graphite arbors. Usually, there is one at each end and 1 in the middle(2 in the middle if that handle is really long).
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Can you say something about the ideal lure weight range yet? How low can you go in terms of enough weight to load the rod and feeling what bottom contact lures are doing?
I know the MB 705 HM pretty well and I assume the lure range of the 736 X-ray is way higher?

Thanks!

It's best at 10-25g lures. You can cast 5g jighead+jig, but it bit too low weight to load blank nicely. Haven't tried over 20g jighead with jig, but it casts that easily. I think its like 8-35g at least, maybe more.

Sensitivity is better than 705 HM. Also castability. 3" extra length helps also in distance.

I’m curious about that mhx. I look forward to your thoughts on it when you get a good feel for it.

Well I broke down and ordered one of the NFC X-ray blanks. I probably will not get it built in a while but ordered the 736 should be here is a couple weeks. Hoping to save it as a winter project but will probably get antsy before then.
