Rod forenut won’t lock down...

Post by Real Pudd legend » Sun Feb 04, 2018 7:00 am

Hey guys I recently purchased a rod that I really like but traditionally when you tighten the foregrip down it locks the reel down into the reel seat. Mine happens to tighten but when it hits a certain point of tension it gives and loosens up . I’m afraid on the water after a while it will loosen up ... is there a cure to make the nut lock down or is it stripped ?

Thanks In advance fellas

Try a few wraps of Teflon tape on the threads to bulk them up, then reinstall the nut. It may be enough tension to keep it in place. If it's a micro guide rod, you may be able to remove the stripper guide and install a new nut, that is, if it's the nut that is stripped.
