Just curious as to what blanks have people been using for punching? I am currently using a TW Powell punch rod, Dobyns DX 795, and a Dobyns Champion 805. They are all great rods, but all have various characteristics that I would love to combine into one custom.
I am looking to have a punch rod built for 1/2-2 1/2oz weights, for the California Delta.
Looking for light weight, quality blanks, with fast to moderate fast actions.
Something that is around 8' would be nice, but preferably no shorter than 7'9" .
Is a punch rod worth spiral wrapping, or would the extra work not be warranted?
Thanks!

Of course it is. Heavy cover...heavy loads...exactly where spiral wrapping is of benefit.zodiak311 wrote:

Extra work? I'd say its less work. You can use more single foot guides and eliminate half your wrapping work. Proper guide spacing is work whether its a traditional wrapped or a spiral wrapped build.zodiak311 wrote:
