Rainshadow Eternity2 ETES 72ML
North Fork Composite MB 702-HM
St. Croix Elite 5S76MF-G
Lures 2-12g. Reel is Steez or Aldebaran. Which one and why?

Re: Ultimate blank for perch
How big do the perch get where you're at?
For us it's about 2lbs on the highend.
Along with the Eternity from us, I'd also recommend the Immortal IMMP70L - I personally use that for jigging for Kokanee and Trout, would work well for Perch too.

1-2lb mostly. Never caught over 2lb. Just noticed, its hard to get Rainshadow blanks in Europe. Maybe i'll choose MHX or Croix..Batson-Brands wrote:How big do the perch get where you're at?

Re: Ultimate blank for perch
Would a popping blank be better suited? Never fished for perch so have no idea.
I have an IMMS72 and ETES72ML. Love them both, both would work for vertical presentations. I use them for drop shot and shaky heads.
If I were to build a rod for vertical jigging, (Walleye is what I'm used to) I'd probably go with an Immortal popping blank. No experience with the popping blanks, but their other models are stellar.

Re: Ultimate blank for perch
Personally, I feel that all your options are too powerful.
Nothing in an MB taper would be on my list. Any SJ's would be 1, 0, or 00 power.

Re: Ultimate blank for perch
Since we’re only talking about 2lb (max) Perch, you’ll want more of a panfish/Trout rod. Which the Immortal IMMP70UL and IMMP70L would be perfect if you want a highend rod for Perch – I personally use the 70L. The Eternity would be too powerful, as Mattman stated.
Revelation lineup also has some nice UL and L rod blanks.
Shouldn’t be a problem to get a RainShadow blank to you in Finland, we have some great European distributors. You can find our international dealers at: http://www.rainshadowrodblanks.com/inte ... al-dealers

Thank you all! I think i'll try Bushido dropshot blank 1st. If it's not what i wanted, i'll make another one.

Re: Ultimate blank for perch
The drop shot blanks are great, but also check out the Bushido SJ72/4-8. It's a heck of a blank for panfish, crappie, bluegill, etc. and I have bass guys using it for a finesse ned rig.MardukFIN wrote:Thank you all! I think i'll try Bushido dropshot blank 1st. Re: Ultimate blank for perch
Bought it, built it, tested it ands already sold it! Nice blank, but little bit too stiff for perch. HM-SJ781-MHX would be better.Hogsticker2 wrote:Interesting selectionMardukFIN wrote:Thank you all! I think i'll try Bushido dropshot blank 1st. If it's not what i wanted, i'll make another one.

Re: Ultimate blank for perch
My absolute favorite perch rod is on an MHX 7ft popping blank. It's the previous model rather than the newer HM series, but I imagine they're very similar. HM-P842-MHX 7'0" 1 4-10 1/16 - 3/8 Fast Med-Lt Live Bait, Rattle Traps, Twitch Baits 1.2 .492 4 $93.50

I have the HM medium power popping blank. I would imagine the medium light would be stellar for perch.Tim Kelly wrote:My absolute favorite perch rod is on an MHX 7ft popping blank. Re: Ultimate blank for perch
I think I'll try lighter Bushido. I like those blanks and price are very low as pro staffer.
Re: Ultimate blank for perch
Considering I use 4-8lb rated blanks for 15 pound steelhead those choices sound like meat sticks for perch. I'd be trying something in the 2-6 range 1-4 if possible.
Re: Ultimate blank for perch
Or an old fashioned crappie rod..
