New Custom Build
I thought I would post a few pictures of one of my favorite new rods. Its a North Fork Composites SJ 804-1 (HM) blank built up with our proprietary carbon fiber rod grips. I use it for back bouncing for Chinook but it makes a great bass rod as well.
Its the lightest 8' rod I have ever felt and the balance point is under the reel! It feels perfect.
Here I am fighting my first Chinook on it.

Sorry guys! Should have known people might want to actually see the fish. Here is the first one. Not the prettiest Chinook but a good one to break the rod in.
This was the second fish. Really put a bend in it!
Nice chrome fish fresh from the Ocean.

Yep, buddy of mine at work was showing me all the spots he hits while wading, shore casting/drifting for winter steelies up in OR. You guys have mega walleyes and smallies there too. And of course, legendary white sturgeon up to 20'+...been a long time since any that size has been seen, no?SS Fishing wrote:I'm in Eugene Oregon. Go Ducks!

Yeah! The Columbia has world class walleye fishing. They think the next world record will come out of the Columbia. The Columbia also has some of the largest oversize sturgeon. I know they catch 15+ foot sturgeon every year. I'm only about an hour from the Umpqua river, some of the best small mouth fishing in the country! Trophy brown trout in central Oregon too. Pretty lucky to be in such a great area. Awesome fishing year round.

Yeppers, I lived temporarily in Beaverton for about six months as a kid (9-10 years old). I recall lots of snakes, rain, foliage, salmon, my first ever black bear encounter while picking black berries, BIG slugs...oh, and Christopher Cross' song, "Sailing" holding the #1 spot for like 6 + weeks!SS Fishing wrote:Yeah! Those browns are mostly lake type Germans, correct? Not the anadromous line of say, Seeforellens?
FWIW, the Beluga Sturgeon of the Caspian Sea is the only sturgeon that grows larger, and with much more heft than the white sturgeon...which is a scary proposition as these aggressive sturgeon are known to eat anything they can catch and fit in their mouths - including other fish, waterfowl and even small marine mammals!

Re: New Custom Build
Do you have any issues with line stacking to the right of the spool with your striper guide that far right?

No stacking issues. The first guide is around 30 degrees. The others are 45 degrees.
