North Fork Composites 8 foot blanks
I have 2 of the MB 808 HM's and 2 of the MB 809 HM's and I was wondering what g loomis blanks were equivalent to these 2 models, both of these blanks seem to be more moderate fast than the actual fast action they are labeled as

I get action numbers that are more of a Mod-Fast with those two blanks. 57° - 61°. (Mid and upper 60's are more of a Fast action)
For power, they wind up near the MB844 GLX. I haven't measured any other G. Loomis blanks that are of similar power outside the MB lineup.

I'd like to have the MB 808 at 7'6 for throwing half to 3/4 oz football jigs but I'm worried that taking off 6 inches from the butt will take away too much backbone.

It'll take away some power and make it a slower action.Mleblanc02 wrote:I'd like to have the MB 808 at 7'6 for throwing half to 3/4 oz football jigs but I'm worried that taking off 6 inches from the butt will take away too much backbone.

Personally, I'd extend a 708 or 709 those 6 inches before I cut an 808 or 809. That makes it faster and adds some more deep down power.
