St. Croix SC VI Blanks

When production rods are not enough, it's time to go custom. Come share your experiences building and/or ordering a custom rod and tell us if you'll ever go back to off the shelf.

St. Croix SC VI Blanks

Post by SpanishFisher » Sun Jan 13, 2013 4:39 am

Hey there,

I saw on the St. Croix page that there are, or will be, a SC VI Blank. Do you guys have any more information on those blanks than I couldt get from the homepage.
I also just saw a SC V Blank on facebook which has a carbonpattern all the way to the tip and its not color finished. Is that new to all the SC V blanks now? Because in the St. Croix catalogue the are still listed with colored blanks.

Thx guys

They do not produce blanks in this graphite. It is used as additional "filler" material in other blanks to gain the performance characteristics that they desire.

Blanks are still painted and are of standard graphite flag construction.

I don't know what you saw but it could be prototype material, etc. St. Croix does contract roll for others and they do quite a bit of stuff for other companies, including stuff outside the fishing industry.

I think their new 2013 legend xtreme starts to use sc VI.
I have a 2011 legend xtreme and it is sc v.
Hopefully someday i break it and get it replaced with a new model.

You'd better show us that Facebook link, if you can find it.
We are also curious to see it.

I thought the SCV bass blanks(xtreme/elites) have had SCVI added to them for a couple years now , used in the way described in the SC link.

From the St Croix Website:
SCVI / FRS

Exotic, 62,000,000 modulus, high-strain graphite fiber now featuring FRS. Used only as a complement to other graphite materials, this very expensive graphite is too high in modulus to be used as the primary material.
