Phenix K2 blank for jigs

Post by Katron » Mon Jul 30, 2012 3:44 pm

I am looking at possibly building myself another jig rod and am curious what blank you guys think would be a good fit. I am looking at the TX-715H-C for jigs 3/8-1/2 (undressed). Would this blank be similar to the St. Croix 5C70MHF-G-10?

The 715 is right along the same lines as the 70MHF and Loomis MB844. Nearly identical power.

The 715 is noticeably slower than either of those two.

The 715 is about 1/2 ounce lighter.

As mentioned by others the 715 is the one you should be looking at for the sizes you will be fishing. For 3/8 dressed jigs or less the 714 would be it.

i like a longer jig rod so the 7'6" medium heavy is my jig and pitching' rod. the tx 764 is the ONE. i also built a tx 763 for lighter jigs. haven't tried the heavy yet. if you do get a K2 make sure to build it light and use a light weight reel like a steez for the wow factor.
