Custom rod where?

When production rods are not enough, it's time to go custom. Come share your experiences building and/or ordering a custom rod and tell us if you'll ever go back to off the shelf.

I just bought a used PTR custom rod and my son absolutely loves it. I can't find any info on if performance team rods still makes rods. My son wants an exact replica of what I have but one foot shorter. Mine is a lamiglas lmb864 blank. It's spiral wrapped and has burl cork split grips with two red Eva rings on each grip. Does any one know where I could have one built that is similar but a 6 foot or even 5'6. Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Bring it in to your local custom rod shop - I'm sure they can make a clone of it. Not hard to do for someone skilled in the art.

I never had a custom rod built and have no knowledge of any builders in Connecticut that I know of. Any one know any builders near me.

Check www.tackleworks.org and see if there is a builder near you...

Mattman can do this job well, he's just being modest. I would go with Mattman since his work is already proven and he can give you the best advice on what you can get.
