Fishblock, you might want to post this question in the custom rod forum. There are a lot of great rod building inthusits on this sight that may be able to help you.

I've built about 8 to 10 of them. Great blank...if it fits your needs...

I've heard that NFC blanks are not true fast actions and tend to be more moderate. Can anyone confirm this?

Why that blank in particular?

Make sure you check for straightness. I have heard this has been the issue around Woodland, WA where the blanks are made.

The reason I would like to build on this blank is exactly what aqua71 mentioned, its not a true fast rod. I am wanting a more moderate/moderate-fast action rod.

Is that for just this particular blank or the NFC as a whole? Does this hold true for SM and IM as well or just the HM?

Right now I'm looking for a small/finesse spinnerbait rod for my buddy. (3/16-1/4 smaller profile, 90% of the time) He likes more of a mod fast action or a softer fast action for this. Any thoughts on the MB 664-1 .

I have a NFC IM MB 644-1. I use it for small poppers, beetle spins, light duty frog, n my favorite 1/16oz wacky jig head with jackall crosstail shad. I have a px type r with 6lb fluro line. The rod feels crisp but has enough flex to cast well.
