Could you buy the rod and a tip without having to pay for shipping? Then you could either sell the extra rod or keep it.

Add on another tip section while you're at it.

This is what I was thinking with my earlier post, though I didnt spell out adding a tip to the new rod order. From thought to thumbs didnt work out correctly!
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

In addition to having the regular single rod option, they offer a combo (complete rod with an extra tip) for roughly the extra cost of the tip itself. *

I may as well go this route as I have a perfectly fine main section in need of a tip. I don't really need two like rods, then again I have no need for a perfectly fine main section that's in need of a tip. It appears it's the only way to procure a tip without paying shipping.

What's one extra rod in the grand scheme anyhow ? ...

*NOTE* I edited out the link to that place that sells that thing I was referring to as per forum rules.

I am looking into the spool for the Spirit Fox. I wonder if it is the same size as the XF 50.
The XF is 12.5gr and the Spirit Fox is 9.5gr.............3gr difference is huge and puts the spool in close proximity with the big guns.......if not exactly the same as most.
Looks like I'm out another $14 ... LOL

A little bit of an update for you.
I got the Spirit Fox spool in the mail today.
I weighed it and the XF50 BFS spool..............

Image
The Spirit Fox weighed in at 9.4 grams with a spool bearing attached.
That is in the realm of official BFS standard as far as what the higher priced brands weigh.

Image
This is the original XF50 BFS spool, it weighs in a 13.8 but had about 15ft of mono backing still on it.....I'll call it 13.5

So we have a difference of 4.1 grams. Considering that I purchased the Spirit Fox spool for 14.30 shipped.....I'm pretty amazed.

I spooled it up with 4lb NanoFil grn and took to the front lawn to test it out......I will be fishing tomorrow with.
I can tell you that with a brake setting of 9 I just about made a 45ft cast with a 3/32oz spinner.
This is pretty exciting for such an inexpensive addition compared to the distance it brings and obviously lighter weights it can sling.

Got this for 50ish a few months ago. Haven't tested it yet. Just added a couple of knob bearings. (came with 2)
