Where'd you pick this rod up Alphahawk?

Pretty sure he ordered it from the Global Ratuken site from a seller in Japan.

For those of ypu who have this rod, how comfortable do you find the reel seat? I hold a spinning rod with all my fingers infront of the reel stem and downlocking reel seats are usualy really uncomfortable, but it seems like most of the highend UL rods have them.

Interesting.........I just went out to the garage and tried that with up lock and down lock seats. I didn’t find the Corto uncomfortale at all, and holding the XRide Ajing rod with the uplocking seat with a nice smooth cork I didn’t find either grip uncomfortable. I’m not aware of any JDM UL rods that have a fore grip....which I would think the way you hold a rod would be better suited for you. The Corto grip...to me anyway....is pretty darn comfortable.Houndfish wrote:For those of ypu who have this rod, how comfortable do you find the reel seat? Thanks for looking into it. This forum has me about convinced that an ajing rod is the answer to my UL jig needs but I am loathe to spend much on an rod with a down-locking seat if I can’t get my mits on it first. I think I need to find an budget ajing rod with that style seat and give it a try.
Trout Magnets/Slayers were some of the first artifical lures I really got into but I never found a rod that really cast them well w/o a bobber. These threads about the Corto have gotten me excited to get back into throwing them.

I changed my grip some years back so that the reel stem sits between my pink and ring finger. I did not find it uncomfortable and like the fact that my front finger position touches the blank for max sensitivity. However, it is not as comfortable as a custom grip designed for that kind of hold of course. But I would no problem fishing it all day.

I found the grip quite comfortable if you’re not in a huge hurry I’ve ordered another of the Corto line up to check out.
