New Teton Stream Soft UL

Post by LowRange » Tue Sep 11, 2018 1:25 pm

.3 to 3 gram rating. 1.75 meter long or roughly 5'10". I've never seen a rod rated that light. It is like a Kuying Ajing rod or would it be too soft? Weird.

I've purchased 8 Kuyings and I really like them. I have 4 Tetons and UL's a couple Topcasters and a pair of Tournament casting rods. The only thing I see that seems to separate this from the standard Teton UL, aside from looks, is that it is a fast action rod which means it shouldn't be as soft as the other Teton Trout rods. The bottom diameter of 5.74 seems miniscule but is on par with the others.

Would be sweet to have a casting version.

This new one is rated lower than the UL and is similar to the SUL Teton in max rating but rated lower at .3 gram baits vs the .8 gram of the SUL. SUL does come in casting though. There is also another new casting Teton with a very short handle. I think the 2pc junction is in the real seat like the Majorcraft Nanoace rods. Maybe this configuration is better for hiking and fishing streams?

Only 53 grams for the soft UL, that's crazy! I picked up a SUL to see if it would help the 16ALD15R with low weights. It didn't add any distance over bass taper UL's but was slightly easier to use under 1 gram. I got about 5 yards with .28 g and 8-9 yards with .4 g. The thing I liked about the rod was around 1 gram and up it loaded up instantly. This made some unorthodox casting motions possible that will be helpful when in tight spaces.
