Looking a picking up a couple new reels and was wondering if the line capacity of these reels accurate ? Especially in the 1000 size reels . 250 yards of 4# line ? 160 yards of 6# 110 yards of 8# ?
Can anyone verify if these are true ? Kirby

Legalis 1000 LT is rated for 160 yds of 6 lb test.....so expect closer to 200 yds of 4 lb test.

Also, just saw some new Daiwa UL reels to be released at iCAST...these will be a lower price point reels....

Got my Daiwa Exceler lt reels today. I ordered a 1000 and a 2500 . The 1000 I loaded with 4# P-Line and the spool is larger than most 1000 reels I’ve owned but I don’t think it took 250 yards to fill it . Maybe 170-180 ? Didn’t measure , I’m just guessing with how long it took to wind the line on . The 2500 is a deep spool too . I filled the spool about a third of the way with some 12 # for backing , then taped rage spool and then filled with 6# P-Line .
I oiled them a little with a few drops Lucus reel oil and they both are super smooth .
I do wish Daiwa made a 500 size reel in the LT lines . I’d be on them in a minute . Gillchaser

What ever happened to these 750 reels? Can't find any info anywhere on them.

Seems like a giant waste of line on a spool, do you plan on putting a bunch of backing on to fill it out?

I agree that these LT reels have ridiculous line capacities. My guess is that Daiwa does this to shave a few tenths of an ounce off the published reel weights; a smaller spool core uses less material. Unfortunately, line does add sigificantly to the reel weight; I measured an increase of .4 oz. adding monofilament line to an Abu Garcia spinning reel spool that has a 42 mm. lip diameter and a 19 mm. gap between the back of the spool lip and the front of the spool skirt.

So for most warm-water inland fishing, Daiwa's newly deepened spool cores on its LT reels provide an illusory reduction in reel weights that is lost when line is added. I hope this tomfoolery ends soon.

That's why I am still rocking my Luvias reels and picked up two '15 Exists. And on the cheap end, the RG reels are quite alright. I do have Tatula SS reels with the shallow 3000 spool and they are really nice. I am interested in the little 750 sized reels though for trout and panfish. Maybe even for use on an ice fishing rod.
