Anyone tried the Aldebaran MGL?

Anyone tried the Aldebaran MGL?

Post by 1nutinthewater » Mon May 07, 2018 9:25 pm

New JDM bfs reel.
Aboslutely love my calcutta conquest and thinking about trying this next but cannot imagine it can compare?
Looking for a reel as smooth as the calcutta but with lower profile.

I too am in love with the conquest and think it would be tough to beat. That said, a buddy with the Aldebaran says that they are very close. His words......” make your decision based on feel in hand”. The conquest wins when considering large swimbaits or crankbaits

Fishing the Aldebaran MGL now... it's a nice reel but it is not a low profile version of the Conquest.

That distinction goes to Antares.

Coming from a Daiwa guy, the Antares is my favorite cranking reel. Casts far and is super smooth.

When is comes to smoothness, the Conquest has always been in a league of its own.
I have both the Conquest 100 and the Alde MGL.
The Alde MGL fishes about the same as the regular model Alde. I think the casting maybe slightly easier due to the new spool. On the retrieve it fills the same as the regular Alde that it is replacing.

Thanks for the input- Maybe i should just get another conquest! Absolutely love the smooth, liquid feel of it just looking for the same in a low profile. Even the chronarch mgl feels like a pencil sharpener in comparison.
