I own about 15 Major Craft rods....I really love them. I've moved a few out recently and need to pick up another spinning rod. I'd love to buy American if I can find something along the lines of what I need before I ante up for another Speedstyle or better rod.

I'm looking for a 6-9 to 7-0 L to ml spinning rod mostly for soft plastics.....it needs to be a bass rod, not a trout rod. I need a fast action with some back bone. I've read a bit on the RR series and it says they are softer actions mainly for trout......can anyone confirm this.......as well as give me any advice if you have fished these rods.

I have a two-piece River Runner, 7'2". It definitely has a softer action than bass rods. For comparison, it's softer than my dropshot rod, a Megabass XX. Besides casting lightweight lures very well, it does have some backbone. The largest bass I've landed was a four pounder largemouth. I did also land a 24" pickeral. I feel comfortable landing bass up to about two pounds. Above that however, it starts to feel a little underpowered, you have to take your time landing them (nothing extraordinary).

It doesn't get much action anymore because my dropshot rod has a wider range of lures it can cast. I've only used it from shore or wading, never on a boat. If you were on a boat/kayak and trying to bring a fish up from the depths, I think that any fish over 2-3 pounds would be a little dicey depending on your line test.

Again, although I've have used it specifically for bass fishing, in this case I think the marketing labeling on this rod is appropriate. It really does serve better as a trout rod than a bass rod.

I would mostly have agree about trout actions. That said the 7'6" L has a more powerful action.

i have 1 RR...i think 6'9" L??

rod is fine, but guides are too small for my taste and limit casting. i only use it for vertical fishing now. any of my other production rods will out cast it.....st croix premier, daiwa presso, etc.
