Microcast spool vs real bfs reel

How small is your rod and how light is your line? It's not about the size of your tackle, but how you work it. Come share your Ultralight and Bait Finesse System (BFS) fishing success here!

I meant the actual casting technique. I realize the distances are going to be shorter. But should you cast the same or using different mechanics? Use more wrist action?

The shorter rods, for me anyways, are used for more of a "balance" thing, if any. 6'6 to 6'8 rods, as my light baits reels are fairly light (09Aldebaran, SV105, Curado50E, Scorpion XT1000). My casts are usually a "roll" type, no matter what type of fishing im doing (other than flipping and pitching of course). So I guess you can say for me its a "flick of the wrist".

I tend to agree with the concept of a “roll” or a “flick”. However, that’s dependent upon maintaining the inertia of the cast. This may be seen by watching some of the many videos posted on YouTube showing casting in small streams.

There is another suggestion that seems to be somewhat unpopular - perform practice casting, on a lawn, not actually fishing with say a a couple split shot, or other weight of same approximate weight.

New rod arrived and made a couple casts. Used 1.5 g jighead and one inch rubber fish (total weight around 2,2 grams)

Would cast like 10 meters or so, maybe 12. Not great distances but certainly fun.
