A number of "LT" versions of existing reels...no idea if this means that the aluminum bodied reels will be retained or not.

Though I bought a couple of the new BG reels in 1500 and 2500 size and they completely surpass everything Ballistic and below really...while avoiding "Mag Seal".

I like the concept but I think it is interesting that many of the pros are now talking about using the 4000 size in these new reels instead of the 2500/3000 of the older models. Also, what is the $10 difference between the lower end reels (Exceler vs. Legalis)? I have felt the BG reels and they are really nice! If you want to match a nice budget conscious reel and rod together, get a 2000BG and an Aird X 7' ML spinning rod. $150 and it will fish like it's worth twice the price (maybe more).

On the older style reels, the price difference might be that the Exceler reels have the air bail feature while Legalis lacks them.

That BG is far and away the best value going for an all around spinner.

It's more durable than when the stradics retailed for 105$ almost 20 years ago...for a few bucks less. (factor in inflation and it's a steal..loloL)

I don't think there has been a spinning reel value like the BG that checks as many boxes and fishes as well since the SHimano symetre had a worm gear in the 90s or even the whisker.

I'm not just talking FW bass. Big bluefish and stripers by the Tons and it friggin holds up!

I wonder why the lT 1000 size reels have 220-250 yards of 4# mono compared to the BG 1500 size with 155 yards capacity?

I think that may be a misprint.

This is the response I received from Daiwa to my line capacity question. "Our LT reels are much different than our reels before them. They are a new design on everything from the frame to the spools. Going forward, this capacity will be more typical of our 1000 size reels "

That's really odd; seems like way too much capacity regarding 4# line. But II see that capacities are also much higher for all given line sizes across LT reel sizes.

Considering only UL, that seems quite an overkill regarding line capacity; who needs 240 yard capacity with 4# line?? Currently, standard 1500 size spools hold 155 Yards of 4# already.

I noticed that these LT reels are currently just a USDM thing...they don't show up in any other of Daiwa's major markets.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing...and many of the tournament guys are touting the 4000 size. For years I have used 2000/2500 size and just recently have 3000 size reels but 4000 seems huge! If the smaller reels hold that much line, what do the 4000's hold. So these LT's are just a UDSM?

Only have appeared on Daiwa's North America website so far, nothing elsewhere yet.

Looks like a number of reels have been dropped due to the addition of the LT reels. I read that the Tatula was a direct replacement for the Procyon. They dropped the Lexa completely. The only aluminum frame reel listed, for now, is the Fuego, but there is a LT version of that one too. The old Exceler and Legalis reels have been dropped.

Getting rid of aluminum frames was a past prediction and I realize that reels become a lot like cars regarding style changes; still don't understand why these reels have huge line capacities. This applies to the larger reels too...and so many people use small diameter braid for heavy test line nowadays too.

These LT reels and their spools are still only a USDM only thing.

Given the large size range available in the new BG reels...and their quality, I really can't see the point of buying any of the new LT reels.

I was kinda thinking the same thing about the BG, but was hoping for a little lighter reel with sensible line capacity.

SO many reviews on the BG place it as an unbelievable buy for the price. I may have to get a 2500 for my Muse Gold 72ML and see how it works (it will match nicely color wise). I currently have a made in Japan SS Tournament 1300 (figure 1300 with 13 fishing ) and do like that but maybe I will order a BG.

Agree the Daiwa Bg is an incredible buy at $75 on amazon. The only thing is the big drop in drag between the 2500 vs the 2000.
However, I had little problem getting a 5lb+ largemouth on the 2000 - pretty good cranking power.

Can anyone confirm that the BG2000 and BG1500 are the same frame with a different spool? I have a M/F rod that is tip heavy with the Ci4+2000 I bought for it and I love the idea of a heavier, inexpensive, but still quality, reel I could try on it.
