I use VMC Siwash hooks on my small ice fishing spoons. Siwash hooks have an open eye, you just hook it on and crimp the eye shut.

I like the cultiva brand hooks Finesse-Fishing.com carries in size 8 for my small plug treble replacement. I really feel my catch rate is up vs the small trebles. Also, after taking one through my finger this week, I appreciated the barbless hook.

Mustad Kaiju (silver, down to size 8) or VMC 7237 (black nickel, down to size 6) are ideal. You don't need to crimp these and they are designed to replace trebles. I have used them both, in larger sizes, with good results on big fish. With singles, you need a short shank, wide gape and large eye.

I like the Cultiva hooks as well. I've been swapping a bunch of trebs on small ranks for them.

I've never tried the Cultivas, but found that I couldn't find Siwash hooks as small as I'd like.

I've been using the Mustad 3366A for years. The eye is soft enough that you can carefully bend it to attach the single hook without a split ring. Split rings tend to unnecessarily lengthen the lure, a compact lure usually is a good thing.

I have found that I actually get better hook up by replacing the treble hook with a double hook, especially on top water lures.
Here again, with a double hook you don't need a split ring. Again, it works really well with top waters and with crankbaits and minnow lures fished in rivers and streams. The hook I have used is the VMC 9908BZ, but there are others.

What size are you looking for? The Cultiva single hook barbless replacements come as small as a size 12.

I use the Cultiva single hooks to replace my trout spoons too. They have a wide selection of all sizes.
