I also have two special custom 2500C IAR reels that are my "heavy" finesse and UL Surf reels. They are nice. but be careful casting two heavy a lure while surf casting - on a powerful rod, with something like a 4 oz. lure, you can cast all 200 yards of line off the reel! Usually the heaviest lure I have cast on my UL Surf reels is a lure just under 2 oz.

Not surprised there, my LTX BF8 which has the same spool as the BF7 outcasts my Aldebaran BFS XG and Daiwa SS Air, but the brakes are not as forgiving for me.

I'm also a big fan of round reels, but for the lightest jobs I now prefer Daiwa reels with SV or Air spools. Below are my 1500C's modified for UL. Both reels are heavily modified using UT Reel parts, shallow spool, 8 + 1 bearings, aluminum line guide, carbon tex brake, ceramic prawl. These reels I've modified myself, except the dual bearing handle knob which is done one by Ulf (UT) and the other by Reelman. I have four 2500C, two 5500C and one 6500C built by Ulf (UT).

My favorite rod for 1500C is Megabass Pagani Air Bamboo F0-61PB, I also like Major Craft Corzza 652UL which is a much cheaper alternative.
