Major Craft Finetail/Aldebaran BFS XG Combo

Post by Bootytrain » Sun Sep 11, 2016 8:15 am

Got this rod for 170 shipped on Amazon. The detailing is typical Major Craft, which is awesome, Its rated from 1-8 grams. So hopefully Ill be able to fully test the lower end of the XGs casting range with this beauty. Its a 5'4 2 piece. This is so light and balanced(balance point seems to be right at the spool) that when you pick up a regular bass fishing combo it feels a bit clunky. Comes with a rod bag. Going to fish creeks for smallies and trout and whatever else bites. :D

Love the looks of that rod. Was hoping to find a casting version close to 7'...no luck. How do you like the reel?

The reel is awesome, going to test the lower limits of it with this rod. Yeah not too many of these JDM ultralight trout rods are going to be too long. The combo is so light and the balance is ridiculous. One handed casting should be a breeze.

I have the same rod mounted with a regular Aldebaran 51 with Yumeya (mono) or KTF spool (braid). One handed casting is a breeze, however, I have still to get used to overhand casting with such a short rod :-) ...
It is a fun setup.

Good question, as far as materials I don't know, but they do seem to be semi micro. 7 total including the tip. The baits I'm going to throw will be lc pointer 48s, crappie and maybe trout magnets, and the 2 inch Keitech easy shiners.

Major Craft uses Fuji components, those are at least SiC guides on titanium frames.

Bootytrain, how is the combo? Could you get to 1 gram?
