Plastic Worm History
Found this link on the FishingForHistory BlogSpot
Interesting to see how a basement inventor had such a huge impact on fishing.
I also have done very well on Crème 4" scoundrels in both black and natural.

Good read. Thanks!
Re: Plastic Worm History
The ironic part about "rubber" worms (that look nothing like a worm) is that most fish never see, much less are accustomed to eating natural worms. In essence a real worm is an artificial bait.. a good one... but artificial to the fish in that it is something they rarely if ever get to feed on...
Today almost all artificial "worms" look nothing like a natural worm and they can catch a ton of fish... just like natural worms, that to the fish are "artificial".
The "rubber" worm was invented to imitate a bait that was not very natural (to the fish) to begin with....

They most likely resemble leeches, small snakes or salamanders...or simply sound/feel like food while moving.

This is kind of coincidental, cuz the first rubber frog I used was made by Crème as well. The hook up ratio was terrible, but boy did the bass and pike hammer that lure.

Some things just work; one of Heddon's very successful color schemes was white body with red head.
