Need Major Craft rod recommendation for crappies

Post by P413 » Mon May 09, 2016 4:21 pm

I've been looking at spinning rods from major craft and they all look awesome. Which specific ones would make a good crappie rod? I will use it for casting 1/16 oz road runner jigheads in open waters and sometimes down to 1/32 oz heads. Thanks.

What's your budget? I'd look at a medium light regular action for underspins in open water. They have a 6'7 in the Ms-x line, and for a more budget friendly option they have a 6'9 in the Corzza line. Both are regular fast tapers and come in 1 and 2 piece options.

Like to keep it under $250 shipped, thanks for recommendations, any others to consider in this price range?

There's the Speedstyle, but it's only available in fast action. I like to use the regular fast taper when applicable to help keep fish buttoned up. The medium light should provide adequate power for setting the hook with those road runners. If you can swing it get the Ms-x. It's really nice.

A FineTail Banshee Area 6' 7" trout rod makes a great crappie rod. It will be around 270 bucks delivered but you will not be disappointed. Most of the Mebaru rods make great crappie rods also but most of the Mebaru rods are over 7 feet.

TICT Rockin Finesse... perfect crappie rod and probably the most versatile rod I own... 1/16 to 1/32 is the sweet spot... a great rod and about $290 on Rakuten.

I was going to recommend a Tict all the way but it was over his budget so I did not. Love my Ice Cube.

Old topic, but I love my ms-x limited 6'5" light/fast. It makes a great panfish rod (don't fish a lot of crappies personally, but works great for gills and perch) as well as lighter stuff for walleyed and bass. My favorite rod.
