Gander Mountain Panfish/Trout Series for 2015
Gander Mountain Panfish/Trout Series for 2015
Gander Mountain has introduced a nice series of rods dedicated to panfish and trout but definitely could be used for other applications. They retail for $49 and look a lot like the Fenwick River Runner series. I called to get the specs and immediately ordered a one piece 6'6" UL XF and a one piece 7' L XF. Plus now there is a coupon for $5 off every $50 purchase so I added a spinner to make my order right around $100. Oh and for each Rod purchased, you get a $10 e-gift card for Gander so it was a heck of a deal.
Both rods were had for like $92 with free shipping, double $5 discount, plus two $10 e-gift cards on their way when the rods ship. I would say a great deal.
Just passing it along...

Got your rods yet ? I was wondering what you thought if them . Gillchaser

Still on backorder...just like the Stradic Ci4+ that I ordered!

They do look quite alike, maybe even the same manufacture. But the XF rated blank definitely scare me a bit. I don't like XF for anything, especially for UL fishing.

I like XF and fast UL rods . If I want a noodle Rod I go with fiberglass . A correctly built fast action UL Rod still bends into the bottom of the blank when you catch a nice fish .
I've ordered a 6' light and a 6' UL to try . Hope they get them in stock soon .
They're probably on one of those boats sitting off the coast waiting to get unloaded after the dock worker strike . Gillchaser

A guy at Gander near me told me that 13 Fishing makes the blanks for most Gander rods. Not sure how true this is but interesting nonetheless.

To be honest, I saw these rods in store before my backorder arrives and I canceled my order. They feel cheap and the ratings are WAY off. Not sure if the first production run has some mistakes but they do not impress me. I will stick with my Okuma Celilo series.

Anyone actually buy one and use it to give a review

That stripper guide looks to be a looong way from the reel. The total number of guides is not stated. At that price, I suspect there are fewer guides than normal on those rods; hope I'm wrong, for any who have ordered them.

They are a mimic to the look of the fenwick river runner. They are okay for cheaper rods but I like the action of my okuma celilo better.

I'm curious because some of ganders rods look a feel similar to 13 fishing products.gsx elite and omen black have similar looks components only noticeable difference held side by side is the omen is lighter in hand...I bought my son a 13 ambition spinning set up and tbh, I like the stick. I was hoping they would come out w an ul or l version of it..seeing this series at gander has me hoping its something similar to the ambition but in the desired Ul or L ..my local store is not near any lakes so the fishing department is sub par and slow to get new products in...maybe I'll drive the 45 min to the larger store this weekend so I can see them in person
