Me
I'm in South Jersey. Got my firsy yak last Memorial Day week, a Peception Caster 12' 6". It's one of those exclusive to Dick's Sporting Goods models. I like it a lot. Spent the winter upgrading some things and adding an anchor trolley. I was so eager to fish last year I didn't take the time to do what I did this winter, rookie mistake
Was out once a couple of weeks back and froze my arse off....although no bass that day I did stumble into a huge nest of crappie. It's all good, beats the skunk any day.

Most places I fish are little out of the way places. I tend to avoid the 'big name' bodies of water. I will give you one that is easy to find. Locate Rte 30 (locally known as the White Horse Pike) in Collingswood. This is in Camden County by the way. The lake is called Newton Creek. It winds through several small towns and is perfect for a kayak. It has it all, including massive lily pad fields, boat docks and small coves. 95% of it winds through residential areas. There are largemouth bass, yellow perch, white perch, crappie, catfish and rumour has it an occasional muskie left over from a stocking program. There are fish to be had the entire length. This is in the general area where Mike Ioconnelli grew up, it's been said he's been known to show up there to fish occasionally, although I've never seen him.urbnimports wrote:Nice...i want to check out some South Jersey bass soon...any good spots you recommend?
As you are traveling West on 30, there will be a parking lot to your right as you go over the bridge.(There is a closed down Burger King right before the bridge) This is about the only place you can put in at. The parking lot is plenty big. Try to avoid Sundays as there is usually a local tournament going on. Be sure to bring light or ultralight gear as everyone seems to throw bigger stuff and the fish have seen it all. Bring a heavy rig for working the pads, but don't forget the small stuff.
