RaGe vs. Spicy beaver

Post by goldrod » Sat Jun 01, 2019 11:38 am

The beaver wins every time.
I’m loving the beaver. I’ve been all over all day today.
If you thought the rage line was impressive the new beaver is sure to win your attention.

The new RI Spicy Beaver looks to be a winner. The hinges look huge on the "claws". I wasn't really impressed ever with the Kinky Beaver though, have done fine with it on a swinging FB jighead, but still none compare to Biffle Bugs for me. I don't know why, but they out fish most creatures for me, mainly just Texas rigged or rigged on a jighead. Back to the Rage products, the Menace and Baby Menace Grubs have been killer for me. As far as RI goes, the Smallie Beaver is an awesome lure to TX rig, on an extremely light wire straight shank. Doesn't have much action, but what it does have works amazing for some reason...

Not at all but man when you get the beaver in your hands
It will blow your mind. I’ve only seen it online but after I got my hands on it I can honestly say, I want more.

I have 3 packs of spicy beavers. It will be a versatile bait and a lot more action and move a lot mor water than the standard beaver variations. It sort of like a beaver and a rage craw married together in the fact that spicy beaver will have a lot of bull in the body but a lot of movement in the craws.

Should be good as a jig trailer, chatterbait trailer to Texas rigged.

They have been a very popular seller since we got them. I haven't fished them yet, but I will soon. We've been getting a lot of positive feedback from guys using them as jig trailers and t-rigged specifically. This looks to be another great plastic from the guys at RI...

how durable? RI baits tend to be on the softer side anyways. I am mostly talking about the appendages. The Rage baits rip off if a blue gill grabs 'em.

Anyone found a pic of them side by side? I am very devoted to the Menace but am willing to branch out.

What do you find the Spicy does better then the Menace? The Menace is easily one of my top 5 plastics and has replaced most other small craw/paddletail plastics for me.

My sarcastic side replied with “it’s in the spices” but I wanted to give you and myself a true comparison.
To include zooms Zcraw
It’s just shorter than a normal sized Z craw and the flaps have a larger gap at the base where the appendages meet with the body. The flanges on the claws are more pronounced and the claws plastic is thinner than compared to either the menace or Z craw. The menace has more of a cylindrical body but the SB is flatter and the head has a built up thinckness for flipping hooks that have a good keeper.
The Z craw and menace claws are inline with the body of the respective baits whereas the SB is more like a dart. It’s the best way I can describe it.

The SB has a bigger profile then the menace as well. Hope this helps. I’m hoping to use the SB as a football jig trailer for this pond that’s not far from me. But I’ve got chores.

I fished the spicy beaver over the weekend. It was a good weapon for pitching weeds with a pegged 3/8oz bullet weight. I caught a bunch of fish and they were inhaling it. I never tried anything else in comparison as I didn't need to change. I'm now a fan and ordered a couple more packs.
