Anyone fish the TRD Crawz?
Picked up a few packs the other day but won't be able to fish them until March/April as I'm in the northeast. I did well with the ned rig this year fishing the hula stikz and standard trd.
Anyone fish the crawz yet? If so how do you like them?

Have a few packs...haven't fished them yet.
The fact that no one has replied to this yet leads me to believe people are killing it with these. Just a hunch.

I have bought three packs. Haven't had anywhere near the luck I thought I would though. They look great and have the best action of any finesse type bait I have seen, but it may just be coincidence that the fishing has been slow with them.

I hope you're right. I got a couple packs myself to try this weekend. If they don't work at the place I'm going, they must not work at all. I plan on smackin' 'em down left and right all day, though. I'm pretty sure they'll get destroyed. I think it will be the first great day of pre-spawn fishing for me. The weather is shaping up to make the conditions optimal so I'm pretty pumped.d_vowell wrote:Have a few packs...haven't fished them yet.

They do look amazing. I plan on picking some up. Look so deadly on a finesse jig.

I had the same experience when the TRD Tubes came out. I bought far too many and they are a worse plastic then a half-zinker in a lot of ways.FishingwithBranden wrote:I have bought three packs. I am going to try them with the new bulletz jig head to see if that improves the overall success. I am sure it will pick up once the weather here slows down.

Re: Anyone fish the TRD Crawz?
I gave mine a shot today without any luck. I have all this new tackle to test out, so I didn't give it very long at all. It has good action, casts well, and looks good in the water. The fish just wanted something to chase today. Caught almost everything on some keitech variant, mostly a 2.8 FAT on a 1/0 gold colorado flashy swimmer. Man, those things are awesome.
I got some of the Owner Block Head hooks for those and ned rigs and as you might expect they are wayyyy nicer than the Z man ones. It's a new style forged needle point jig hook with the point curved slightly inward, I'm guessing for somewhat of a self setting effect or to keep them from being thrown. Let me tell you, they are what I call SHARP. Plus they come in 1/32nd. Can't wait for a calm, clear water day to try them out.

I fished with them a few times in the fall and smoked them. Didn't throw a TRD alongside them so I'm not sure how they compare but they definitely do catch fish.
I also had success with the TRD minnowz but to a lesser extent.

I love the trd crawz. Last season, I used them mainly as a finesse jig trailer. The action and durability are great on these.

I fished this yesterday for the first time. Caught 1 and lost 1. I thought I read about them having some kind of unique fall, but I dropped them next to the boat and it seemed to go straight down. I usually get most of my ned bites on the initial fall.

I really like them and caught some nice perches with these baits:

I've caught smallies and walleye with them. I keep a few colors with me all the time.
