Keitech Shad Impact

Post by Jeffbro999 » Tue Aug 30, 2016 2:29 am

Picked up a couple packs of these a few months ago and just tried them out the other day. The redfish really seem to like them and have been consistently catching the biggest fish of the day. I need some advice on rigging though. What hook are you using and how are you fishing them? Thanks!

Scroll down on each link and look what Keitech recommends, this is usually how I rig.

Thanks for the link. The Shad impact is not a swimbait though, more like a soft jerkbait, though none of their rigging methods or retrieves show fishing it like a normal soft jerkbait. Been fishing it on a weighted EWG swimbait hook and it glides very nicely and falls with a nice flutter, but durability is not there as the hook tears out easily.

owner 3/0-6/0 sb hook with 1/8 oz or the weightless ones works as well... if all fails uses a super shank ewg hook and rig like fluke and senko

Sorry, totally forgot about that bait, I even have a pack of those somewhere. Fished them like flukes weightless and didn't really like them vs Zoom Flukes.
Some rigging suggestions from Keitech

No problem, that link helped lead me in the right direction. They are definitely lighter than a fluke, so weightless can be tough around here with the coastal winds. I've been using this hook: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Falcon_L ... FBJXH.html in 1/16oz and it has worked well, but some sizes don't have the "z" bend as in the picture, only 90 degrees so the bait slides down a lot. I believe that's what the main problem was, but I am gonna try the toothpick method to keep it up on the hook. Also gonna try the jighead rig out today with a light weight. They really look good in the water and have caught some BIG fish.

Thanks. You like the twistlock for these baits?
