Yamamoto Senko laminated series
Have you guys noticed that laminated series are not nearly as durable...
I purchased a few bags and all the laminated ones broke off with ease of just casting a few times.
I won't be buying them any more.

Re: Yamamoto Senko laminated series
The last time I used laminated Yamamoto baits was probably 10-12 years ago when my dad and I picked up a ton of green pumpkin/chartreuse laminated Senkos on clearance at some tackle shop and we didn't notice any distinct durability issues, but Senkos have notoriously poor durability in general since they are fairly thin baits and heavily salted. Not such that I've had any issues with losing them on a cast, even when wacky rigged, but I never expect to catch more than 1 fish per Senko.
Although I had no issues with my one experience with laminated Senkos, I have definitely noted worse than average durability overall with laminated baits from companies that typically produce solid colors. In those situations, I usually find that the bait splits between two of the colors.

I have thrown a 5" Brown/Purple laminate a bit this spring on a c-rig. They seem to be about as durable as the solid color ones, which is to say not very durable. BUT, they do catch fish.

In the last 2 weeks I've been to Toledo Bend 3 times with Senkos in my rotation. Both laminate and solid colors. To my recollection it doesn't seem one split, tore, or broke more than the other.
Maybe you got ahold of a bad batch ??

Been using both solid and laminates for years and cannot say that one is worse than the other. Durability of both sucks . But they flat out catch em.

I always felt they were a little tougher.....
Re: Yamamoto Senko laminated series
Have not tried many laminate ones, but have not noticed any durability issues.

Probably, I've never noticed any differences in durability. O ring goes a long way.BRONZEBACK32 wrote:Maybe I did get a bad batch....

I wont use a stick bait without an O-ring. I really haven't noticed a fish catching difference between Yamamoto and store brand stick baits in 4in or longer. I use Yamamoto when I feel the fish are super picky. Still don't know if its a factor though. I can see where the difference in composition would play in smaller baits.zodiak311 wrote:Probably, I've never noticed any differences in durability. Re: Yamamoto Senko laminated series
Nope, there is no difference in durability. QC is harder with laminates. The colors can bleed weird. Maybe you got a bad batch that didn't cool/set properly.
