Anyone out there give these things a try? Seem interesting and sort of a finesse top water you would use when you don't want to throw a frog.

I really like the Pop Shad and I have no problems with hooking fish. There are two ways to rig it. I use a 5/0 Gami EWG for structure for open water I rig it with a 1/0 Gami treble hook. I feed the line through with an EWG then cut it off and tie the treble on, I then take one hook of the treble and rig it just like an EWG with one hook laying on top of the body.

Trying them I'm sure you will be happy with them. I know some guys are using in saltwater as well.

Does it float at rest with a 1/0 treble, or do you have to keep it moving to keep it on top?

It will float. It will float an 8/0 monster EWG.
