Yes. Look up Wired2Fish and Flukemaster. They both have good drop shot tutorials.

JA, you ever blackfish? If you know how to soak bait, you know drop shot already. Don't over think it or over work it. Here is an article from THE MAN himself.

Here is a couple of points that might help. I fish light fluro, I fish on semi slack line ( 70-80% tout ). If you feel the sinker on your line, you are moving it instead of the bait. Move the sinker around until you feel structure, stop and fish ( or soak) the bait, not the sinker. The more relax your hand is, the more you'll feel. That's why I fish it on spinning tackle, 4 fingers before the reel stem. Balance point right on my index finger. One last thing to remember is not to set the hook, this is fairy wand fishing. Simply lift and reel. Ok, you could do a small pop, but not too hard.

I need more for rigging the baits. Like the sinker below the bait or a main line and drop line set up. I have a buddy who black fishes, or used to at least. The wrecks off the shore.

dropshot sinker is just an disposable anchor. I only use the long slender ones. My favorite is danielson. bent it slightly in the middle to form an ) shape. Some people prefer a light sinker. Lighter sinker are more snag resistant. I prefer a heavy sinker. As heavy as you can get away with without too many snags, this way, I don't worry about the sinker move too much in wind and wave.

As far as the length of the leader ( distance between hook and sinker ), the short answer is depends on fish's mood. You are to suspend the bait in their nose. So short leader if they are aggressive, tight to the bottom, long leader if they are suspended. Generally 12-18 inches is a good start.

While the master himself prefer a straight line from top to bottom. I prefer a tiny swivel in the middle, then clip on different pretied leader as needed. This way, if the leader section is tangled / frayed, etc, I can switch it out in seconds without retying the whole rig again.

Aaron Martens also has a great video on youtube covering the basics of drop shotting. I drop shot in both deep (15 ft. +) and shallow water (5 to 10 feet).

Remembering to just lift and reel was the hardest part for me--not setting the hook.

Wow, that was a great article, especially on how to eliminate line twist.

Aaron is one of the best in my opinion. Just remember to keep it simple and you will have few problems. I use StCroix MLXF dropshot rods and 2500 sized reels. Like braid/leader and straight floro (7 pound Sniper). The new Gama dropshot hooks work great and I use Quick Drop lead weights.
