Senko with no salt ???

Post by jholton » Wed Jun 25, 2014 1:56 pm

i've had luck in the past with roboworms especially the morning dawn (glorified pink) color. so was at bass pro and saw the same color available in the regular 5" senko. ok, cool! however, after i started fishing it, noticed it didnt feel the same. checked it out, and the shimmy on the fall definitely wasnt there. hmmm, so i got a wild hair and tasted it. there was nooooo salt at all. tasted a different color senko, yuk!!!! oh yeah, it had salt lol.

so to get to the point, are there certain colors with no salt? did i get a faulty bag?

I got some bubblegum (sounds better than "pink" ) Senkos a while back. Although I did'nt go as far as tasting them, I did notice that they feel a bit different than the normal Senkos. Perhaps the fish don't like salty bubblegum. Hav'nt fished them yet. Waiting for spring.

Could they be the Senko Lights? This version has less salt than the original Senko.

Like Gone Phishin said, they could be the Slim Senko…I bought some once before I knew there even was a slim version and thought the same thing.

If not, where did you get them? An auction site where someone could have swapped them out for a generic/homemade version?
Do the baits have the logo molded in them? (GYCB)

went to gycb's website, and the morning dawn color is in fact no salt. i always thought the salt was THE main point of senkos. i dont see where a senko with zero salt would have any action at all???? hmmm, i wonder why?

I wonder if they are a healthy alternative for the big fat bass with high blood pressure? 8-)

Maybe the salt will effect how the color turns out?

Can you post a link. Curious to see which others are "salt free"

Just curious, but has it affected your hookup ratio in any way?

Salt will affect the color and I was told that the non salt Senkos use some sort of silica in place of the salt to get the fall rate.

didnt fish it long enough. when i saw how it just sort of fell without any action or anything, i took it off. doesnt fall anywhere NEAR the same as the regular senkos do. by the same, i mean with the action and all.
