I have used the 2" and 4" Flash J's.They are super realistic in appearance with a great flashing hologram strip.
The 'bleeding' finish seems to work best.Best results teamed up with 'spin hooks'/weighted screw heads.
The 2" is a great finesse bait.
Happiness is a sore thumb

I tried these last year in the 4" pro blue/silver on a drop shot. For me although
they look realistic did not produce any fish. I was fishing smallmouth in 25ft
of water with two friends that were using the crosstail shad and poor boys
Erie darter. They were pulling smallies in as i was watching and waiting.
I don' t know why the fish didn't want it that day but it was just my experience.

They wear you out jigging constantly. Caught a few fish with them but man its a lot of work to keep that flash going. I would still like to try the paddle tail version though.

they are best when nose hooked, Offset hooks often doen't hook caused by the alu foil Inside - here in my german waters it's strange: in some it catches like hell, in others they keep always untouched - no in between [-X

I've done well with them on a small jighead (1/8 oz). I cast them out and slowly reel them in non-stop (no jerks or snaps of the rod, just a straight retrieve back). Note that the foil strip does tend to get caught on your hooks depending on the size you use. They haven't worked well for me on a dropshot for whatever reason. To switch it up, I do sometimes let the jighead fall to the bottom and slowly move it every few seconds (like a craw jig) and have gotten bites on it as well.

I've only used the 3 inch version, but regret not going up to the 4 inch since they are so slim in profile.

Edit: I realized you are asking about the Flash J. I've only used the Flash J split tail. The Flash J looks like it's designed to be a dropshot lure with its thin tail. I wanted the split tail for my fishing needs.

Fish the 4" on a darter head jig 3/16- 3/8 oz. I have had quite a bit of success fishing them rigged this way. I tried them on a drop shot rig and they didn't produce when fished that way.

They also work well rigged on a chatterbait head without the skirt. Added flash with a slim profile with tons of flsh.

I can confirm what Dirk / dgspec said. Yay or nay. Nothing inbetween. Drop-shot didn't work at all with them.
They are Best fished with a nail bomb and shaky-style. Then they can be "da Bomb"...
