Look Out Skinny Dipper

Post by goldrod » Sat Jul 30, 2011 12:49 pm

There is a NEW sheriff in town and his name is :
Die Dapper..

has the weight of the skinny dipper in the upper 5/8ths of the lure but the tail section is supper action nonstop.
more durable than the big EZ and just a great all around lure. I've been using it on a skipjack hook.. no weight needed.

you have to try these out, I want to see if anyone likes them as much as I/

What makes it better? I find that dippers are very durable and they have the slot on the top where you can hide the hook. And it doesn't appear that they are salted either which could affect the sink rate and how long the fish holds onto it.

I think it has more action than the dipper for starters..It almost what I would
call perfectly balanced. I don't think there is any salt in them but 4' and shallower
they are great and can even be used like a wake bait without rollin over.
I wont stay that they are the best thing on the market but I will say they
have all the best attributes of most of the s/b you use.

It's gonna be tough to replace the dippers.

No slot for the hook would be a def minus. How's the durability?

X2. Bait looks and swims great with out a weighted hook. Very nice.

I've been using these and find they perform quite well (and a bit cheaper than the "dippers"):

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. By the photo posted these baits share a similar design to the RI Skinny Dipper. Maybe they do balance better as the OP stated, but from the looks I will stick to the original.

The manufacturer's website has them 7pk/$4.75. Tacklewarehouse has the RI Skinny Dippers for 7pk/$4.89. Not much of a cost difference there.

Just like the Yamamoto Senko, my experience has shown that knock offs plastics don't perform as well as the originals.I'll stick to the originals until I'm whopped by someone else on the boat tossing the new lure.

Now that Keitech Easy Shiner is VERY NICE....anyone have them available stateside?

I threw the saltwater assassin swim bait last weekend and was pretty impressed with how it kicks. I'm going to have to try the freshwater version. For what its worth, the saltwater model lasted me for 7 snakeheads and a couple of bass. I didn't figure it to be durable since the material is very soft but it did hold up well.

Very difficult to replace the original Skinny Dipper IMO for all the reasons mentioned above (durability, hook slot, etc) but these sure do look great.
Tight lines and screaming drags....
