Favorite Fish attractant

Post by joeim8 » Mon Jul 25, 2011 1:02 pm

Hello all,

Looking at trying a new attractant for my dshot, caro.tee rigs.

I am using the kvd sticks right now but am leaning towards getting some of the gulp spray.

Is the gulp spray ok for any plastic or should it only be used with powerbait or maybe even gulp?

I like the spray bottle just would be easier in general.

Any other recomendtions ?

I fish dshots mostly and drag tubes on lake erie mostly but will hist some inland lakes as well and throw trigs/caro.

Thanks

i've probably had the best luck with megastrike and BANG craw aerosol spray..

i've also tried berkley gulp alive and the baitmate tournament formula they sell at wal-mart..

had better luck with the first two..

+1 for berkley gulp and megastrike. would like to try the new KVD sticks.

gulp is better for plastics
megastrike last longer and is awesome for hardbaits.
Let's go fishing!!!

3X on megastrike. Gulp washes off in a couple of cast, I never liked it.

I also have confidence in megastrike....I am going to try the PowerTeam Lures Hog Tonic soon. I have a can of it sitting in my kayak ready to go...its just too damn hot to be paddling. My neighbor swears by Gulp he puts it on everything...My dad likes Pro Cure Super Gel....

IMO its personal preference and whatever you feel most confident in...."attractant" really attracts fishermen not fish...sure they have amino acids and all that tasty stuff...but really...its a confidence booster...but it really does help take the nasty human smell off of your lures, which doesnt really "attract" fish...it just kinda tricks them :big grin:

I only use scent to lube up my swimbaits but I have found Pro Cure to be the most durable out of all of the ones I've tried (Pro Cure, Smelly Jelly, Bio Edge, Kick n Bass, and Fish Sticks)

YUM, works for me. Actual scent doesn't seem to matter. More for covering up mine or the "shower curtain" scent of the plastic baits.

Whatever is closer when I reach for a bottle.

Bang, Smelly Jelly or MegaStrike.

Smelly Jelly for me, although I rarely use it. My mom swears by it though.

megastrike or mustad's gel, hard to get because its discontinued but is much better than the new spray. with either i take i coffee can lid and put a good dab on it. when i need to reapply i just bend over and rub the bait in it instead of looking on the floor seats compartments for the tubes. my brother actually rubs a bit right on the gunnel of his ranger rather than using some type of lid

Carolina Lunker Sauce. Crawlic or Crawfish the fish don't seem to care. It is much thicker than other scents I have used and stays on the bait much longer. I like the foam applicator pad too, there is virtually no waste, I can use the same bottle for about a year.
