Creature bait

I think it's time for a thread on your personal favorite creature bait since so many new and innovative
baits have saturated the market, may help the decision making process. Don't forget to include the
size, color, and rigging methods - bring it on! 8-)

Ill have to throw my vote to my favorite standby - the Sweet Beaver 4.20 and the Double Wide. I love both in the "infection" color. Ill use both 4.0 and 5.0 hooks on the 4.20, with typically no more than a 1/4 oz worm weight. I go up to a 6.0 hook for the Double Wide, and often just use a 1/4 oz or lighter weight on it as well to swim/hop it along the bottom - esp if the cover isnt too thick.

Try the Owner oversize # 7 hook its big but it works so well with the Double-wide Beaver.

I have used the # 7's from time to time. I really like the 7's when Im in Canada and after pike. The pike love the double wides (and most anything else that moves)!

It's a toss up for me between the R.I. Beaver and the Brush Hog. Doesn't matter wich one my favorite color is watermelon/red flake, t-rigged with anywhere from a 3/16oz weight to 2oz(punching) depending on cover and current. As far as hooks go I usually go with a 4/0 Owner cutting point but will use up to a 6/0(again if I'm punching), and between 12-15lb YZH to 80lb Power Pro.

Rage Hawg, in black/blue, green pumpkin, bama bug, and black neon. Also a Rage Smokin' Rooster in the same colors.

I like to t-rig them with an 1/8-1/2 oz. tungsten weight and pitch them into tight wood cover. I use a heavy action rod and 50-65# braid.

Texas style Yamamoto flappin hog (Watermelon red flake), and Zoom speed craw (white), the bigger the better. I also like all the Power team creature baits, especially in black blue swirl. All on a 4/0 or 5/0 Gamakatsu.
I especially like the White Speed craw for bedding bass.
Get your kids hooked on fishing, and they'll never have any money for drugs or alcohol.
