For those of you that tournament fish, what do you put on your hooks To prevent hooking bass while prefishing? I was mainly wondering about frogs and buzz baits.

I use to use this clear tubing that is sold as spacer material for spinnerbaits. It comes in 3' lengths and you simple cut off 1/2" pieces and slide it over the hook point and barb. I still hooked a few fish because it is hard to keep from setting the hook.

I also use clear tubing on my single hook baits. I have practice treble hooks that are bent over with the barb cut off for my cranks, jerkbaits, and topwaters. Whatever you use, you want to try to affect the look and action of your baits as little as possible. You can even use a little tin foil to cover the hook if you don't have anything else. Some fish will want your bait so bad that they won't let go without you ripping the bait very hard. Make sure that you go back to those hungry fish in the tournament. :D Aggressive fish will often swallow finesse worms if you don't pull the bait away from them immediately.

Barlow's Tackle or Lure Parts Online. Maybe Home Depot.

Some of the smaller coffee stirrers work. Brian
