Swim Jig Trailers...what are you using?

Jig it, spin it, buzz it, if it's got a wire or a lead head, it can and will be discussed in here.

Swim Jig Trailers...what are you using?

Post by BlaineFred » Sat Jan 31, 2015 9:48 am

I can see different trailers for different water conditions, grass or no grass, time of the year, blue-bird sky, depending on the local forage, etc.

I would appreciate information of what to use, when, etc.

Thanks,

Fred

Thanks...

I looked it up on TW, and it looks good. The tail should provide some vibration.

The colors were hard to see on TW. Bluegill didn't really look like bluegill.

What colors for different conditions?

What jigs do you throw?

4.8 inch....to fit them on the jigs you will have to trim the heads off a little or else they will be too long....thats why i use up the older ones as jig trailers...its really the paddle tail action that you'll need from them....

Thanks for the post.

Oh boy, I just discovered that I know very little about swim jigs.

What is a "northern style" swim Jig, and can you please provide an example of a brand and model?

What sizes/weights distinguish the bigger and finesse swim baits?

When do you use the northern, bigger, and finesse?

Sorry to be asking so many questions, but I seem to be at the bottom of a steep learning curve.

Keitech 3.5. Sunny gill is is a good color choice as the picture on tw is misleading. Tail kicks on fall and sloooow retrieves.

Sometimes use rage menace or shellcracker.

When I use Little Dippers for a trailer I always cut about a 1/4 inch off the nose. During a steady retrieve the jig has a little side to side wobble.

Rage tail craws and skinny dippers are some of my favorites

Paca Chunks are good when you need something a little more compact. I also like Havoc Subwoofers for fishing fast.

Really depends on forage at where i am fishing.. Mainly use the kietech swinging impact, smaller size usually (forgot the exact size off the top of my head). Sometimes ill use a twin tail grub as well..
